Initial Ideas

Idea 1 - Wrongly Accused Suspect.

A panicked phone call is made to the police informing them of a crime. The man is arrested but was falsely accused. When released from prison, the man seeks the person who framed him (the audience are unaware of the prisoner's release). The following of the guilty man is recorded from first person perspective, whilst flashbacks of the police station is shown and voice overs (reverb attached) are shouting that it is a mistake. The audience is unaware of what the crime is and who this man is. The unknown identity of the man helps build suspense and grab the audience's attention/keep them interested. The viewers are now asking questions such as "is this the man that has been wrongly imprisoned?", "Has someone been hired to take down the man that framed him?" or "Is it somebody that knew he was the real culprit". Black screens are shown with the titles just after a rushing sound is played. This is a typical convention of thriller opening sequences.

This main influence for this idea was from a film called Law Abiding Citizen. In this film, the character ends up getting imprisoned for murdering the lawer's close friends due to him helping the actual murderer get a shorter jail sentence. The foundations are similar but tweaked as this man was wronly imprisoned and wants revenge.

Idea 2 - Who was it?

Driving down a long country lane at night (Chalk Lane in shooting locations). An animal runs across the road making the car swerve and come to a hault. The car has broken down due to sudden rapid mis control. When trying to fix the problem by torch light, something is watching him (camera first person). Sudden rustles and jumping sounds will be played to build up tension. Close-ups will be used through-out to not give too much away, as well as showing the raw emotion on the main character's face. Although this is just a rough idea for the opening sequence, It has a lot of potential to be experimented with and be of a high standard.

This idea is known to be a bit of a cliche within the genre. However, I got inspired from other successful films and games within this genre to come up with this idea. Alan Wake, is an extremely successful thriller game on the next gen consoles. The screen above is from the game itself, and is set in a similar location to my idea.
